Singing

Andrés is a versatile and experienced singer and has performed extensively in the UK and overseas. He is equally at home on the operatic stage and the concert platform, with favourite repertoire including baroque music and art songs.

Andrés first studied music in his home country of Venezulea. He was a member of the Camerata de Caracas before coming to the UK to study at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. Here he specialised in Early Music, where his teachers included Dame Emma Kirkby, before obtaining a Postgraduate Certificate and a Postgraduate Advanced Diploma from Trinity College of Music, London. He has since enjoyed a successful performing career, with highlight title roles including Handel’s Acis, Purcell’s Aeneas and Milhaud’s Le Pauvre Matelot. He has also sung leading parts in operas by Monteverdi, Mozart, Delibes and Poulenc, among others, and has appeared extensively with professional opera companies in the UK, including Grange Park Opera and Sounds Lyrical. Andrés regularly performs with baroque harpist Joy Smith and harpsichordist David Wright. He has given concerts in various National Trust historic houses, and has recently sung at Holkham Hall and Houghton Hall in Norfolk.
